| Breeding for ewe ! It all started in 1990 when I was looking for a sheepdog which would fit into a farming system with mainly fenced pastures, now, instead of herding the sheep the whole day which would be the tradtitional way of sheepfarming here in Germany and so I received my first Working Kelpie, Pomanda Langben. Then, due to a growing sheepflock (the Letnetti stud belongs to an organic sheepfarm) I imported the second, Scandan Ludwig, one year later. Both dogs impressed with their stock sense and their naturual ability and after we bought Grawoodglen Patsy in 1999, we decided to breed working dogs mainly for our own use but for others as well. The first pups out of Ludwig and Patsy turned out to be allround workers with great stock sense and natural ability, able to work sheep, goats, cows and poultry. These pups already presented the kind of Working Kelpie we are looking for: A versatile stockdog with natural ability and stock sense which is able to work already with little training but can be trained more intensive if required. Enough force and cover to work bigger flocks combined with the ability to work small numbers, too, and backing ability for working in the yards. Over the years, we imported Kelpies from Wales, Denmark and from the SWIS stud in Australia always with our goal in mind, to produce allround stockdogs especially for the requirements of the European farmer. In the background of the Letnetti dogs you find well known Australian bloodlines, like Glendon, Rockybar, Pomanda and Capree, to name just the ones with the biggest influence. All our dogs have to work on our sheepfarm to prove their abilities before they are selected for breeding. Actually Letnetti Working Kelpies are working in several European countries under various conditions: They herd sheep at sea level in the Netherlands, cast the hills of Wales or the Swiss mountains, while others stand their ground against cattle in Germany or work goats in Denmark, e.g..
